Barack Loves Michelle: 26 Times We Fell In Love With The Obamas

While October 3rd, marked former President Obama’s and First Lady Michelle Obama’s 26th wedding anniversary, the nation was reminded of how much to two love each other by the former First Lady Michelle Obama’s tweet on his birthday.

“Happy Anniversary, @MichelleObama. For 26 years, you’ve been an extraordinary partner, someone who can always make me laugh, and my favorite person to see the world with,” the 44th president tweeted on Wednesday, along with a photo of the former first lady looking out of a plane window.

Mrs. Obama, who officiated a wedding in Chicago just weeks prior, responded to her husband’s anniversary tweet with a message of her own.

“Thank you @barackobama for 26+ years of love, trust, and respect – for being a man who always lifts up and honors me and our wonderful girls,” she wrote. “Each day I’m with you, I’m reminded of what a treasure you truly are to us all.”

And even as the Presidents Farewell speech in Chicago in 2016, former POTUS gave honor to his wife again (see below):

So what does it really take to be married for 26 years? Well, the First Lady explains it all.

What I’ve come to find is, you don’t sweat the small stuff,” FLOTUS told Ellen DeGeneres. “The journey that we’ve taken together, the fun we’ve had, the challenges we’ve faced, the two beautiful children that we’re raising — I kind of give him a pass now when he leaves his socks on the floor or tells that story for the one hundredth time and wants us to laugh at it as if we first heard it.”

The President gave his ode to his wife as well in the form of a facebook post on their 2016 anniversary. He posted it with a simple caption that read, “Dancing through life… Happy Anniversary.”
