irregular heart rates that may raise some concern.
How It Works
The way this feature works is by turning on the irregular rhythm notifications. The irregular rhythm notifications will look at your heartbeat and check for an irregular rhythm that might be because of AFib.
AFib, also known as atrial fibrillation, is an irregular type of heart rhythm that occurs when the upper heart chambers are not in sync with the lower heart chambers.
Your Apple Watch will occasionally check the rhythm of your heartbeats to make sure there is no sign of AFib. If you are more active, then your readings may be more frequent.
If you receive notifications that your heartbeat is irregular often, then your next steps should be reaching out to a doctor (unless you have been already diagnosed with AFib). AFib can lead to blood clots that can lead to stroke or even heart failure if not detected and handled early.

Your Apple Watch And What It Cannot Do
Your Apple watch can:
- Detect future heart problems
- Be a cellphone if something happens to yours
- Help make emergency calls on your behalf if you ever get into a bad accident and cannot do it for yourself
- Help track your health and heart rate
- Help keep track of your blood and oxygen levels (Apple Series 7 Watch)
But what your Apple watch cannot do is detect a heart attack and it does not detect ALL incidents of AFib (it detects a few, but does not constantly look for AFib). The specific types of features that come with your watch will depend on the type of series you have or decide to purchase, so do your research to see which would be a better buy for you. The Apple Watch is a great investment if you want to be more aware of your health and overall wellness and it may just save your life.
