It seems like its a horrible broken record playing over and over and over again in front of us. Another unarmed Black man, not only shot, but shot dead by police.
Keith Lamont Scott, 43, was shot dead by police in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Tuesday. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they recovered a gun from his vehicle after the deadly shooting. Claims from his brother that he was only reading a book sparked riots near the scene of the shooting.
Scott was taken the hospital and later died from his gunshot wounds.
Hours after the shooting, demonstrators arrived at the scene and began destroying marked police vehicles, setting trucks alight and throwing rocks at officers.

Scott’s daughter, identified on Facebook as Lyric YourAdorable Scott, found out that her father was dead via the news while recording from the scene of the shooting. The victim’s brother said he was holding a book, not a gun, and was just waiting on his son to be dropped off after school.
The family, and community members in that area state that Scott “waited there in the same place every day” for his son. It wasn’t like he was new to the area to do something wrong. Nor was he unknown the residents in the area. He simply was trying to wait for his son to protect him from things such as this.
According to Keith Lamont Scott’s family, he was married and had seven children. One family member told reporters that Scott was a “great man and great father.”
In the wake of his tragic shooting death, a GoFundMe page has been created to help donate money to Scott’s family. The page mentions that Scott was “taken away from his wife Rakeyia Scott and 7 chilren and family who love him dearly.”

We unfortunately are here again where police have shot another innocent black man because “he posed a threat”. This can no longer be tolerated it’s time to take a stand! On Tuesday 9/20/2016 Keith Lamont Scott was shot reportedly 4 times while reading a book and waiting for his son to get off the bus. He has sadly been taken away from his wife Rakeyia Scott and 7 children and family who love him dearly. We can’t keep letting police take away our innocent black men from their families the time is now to stand up and support Black Lives! Please donate what you can to help this family in this very sad time! And please lift up prayers for their family as well! Justice will prevail!
In a press conference, Police Chief Kerr Putney said one person had been arrested and slammed the ‘agitators’ for turning a peaceful demonstration violent. He added that the story of Scott’s shooting is ‘very different’ to how it has been portrayed in social media, and made it clear that they did not find a book at the scene.
