This phrase, followed by some other words that we don’t really understand but just hum and smile to the tune when it plays, was one of the greatest hits of the past few summers. Why? Not only does it have an awesome beat with intense Afro-Caribbean flavors, it also repeats a phrase all too often many of us know; Work!
Let’s chat for a minute. Work is something we all have to do at some point in our lives be it school work, housework, wage-able work, and the list can go on and on. Often times we find ourselves spending more time with our coworkers than we even do with our family. Work allows us to live the lifestyle we both need and want.
Through work, we are able to afford the amenities that bring us joy and it also gives us a sense of self-worth in knowing we are able to provide for ourselves and our families. Sometimes work can connect us to our true meaning in life and unlock the doors to our life’s purpose. Other times work can prove to be one our leading stressors and biggest contributors to the detriment of our health. That’s another article I’ll write at a different time.
However, the point remains work plays a huge role in our day to day lives. Along with that comes work relationships. I’ve personally made some really close friends through work relationships. I’ve also made some enemies, although most people love me because I’m lovable AF. I’m sure many of you can relate. We’re always warned to set parameters around the “depth” of our work relationships because after all it is work and professional etiquette must be honored.
