This phytoestrogen can be found in apples.
It is structurally similar to the female sex hormone estradiol, largely responsible for female arousal.
Similar to red wine and chocolate, researchers also reason apples may improve sexual function because they contain antioxidants and polyphenols that stimulate blood flow to the vagina.
“This study suggests a potential relationship between regular daily apple consumption and better sexuality in our young women population,” the researchers conclude.
More research needs to be done to determine if apples are a direct cause.
However, in the meantime, it definitely can’t hurt to get in that apple a day!
