If you feel isolated in your journey with PTSD, know that you are not alone.
While family and friends may try to understand what you’re going through, they don’t always know the feeling of fear, isolation and vulnerability that you can experience from posttraumatic stress disorder or PTSD. There are treatments available to you but only about 25-60% of people with PTSD respond to those treatments. As a result, you could be one of many people living with PTSD struggling with symptoms and feeling like you’re facing PTSD alone.
That’s why clinical research is an important tool to help better understand potential treatments for health conditions.
In the CYPRESS study, local doctors are evaluating an investigational drug as a combination treatment with an antidepressant that is approved in the United States for the treatment of PTSD.
To pre-qualify for this study, you must be between 18 and 65 years old and have had a least 6 months of symptoms prior to starting the study. If you qualify and agree to participate, you could receive one of the following:
- Investigational drug and Sertraline
- Investigational drug and placebo
- Placebo only
No matter which combination you receive, you will take your study drug every day. Your participation in this study is totally voluntary, and you may stop at any time. As with many medical studies, you may not receive any health benefits from participating. The information colled may help inform future treatment of PTSD.
It is also possible you could experience side effects. Study staff will review the potential side effects with you before the study starts. In addition, your health will be closely monitored during this study.
Sincerely,
The CYPRESS Research Study
