Get a Free Fibroid Screening During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

fibroid screening

From October 1 through October 31, 2022, USA Fibroid Centers will provide free fibroid screenings in an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer among women and prioritize their health. About one in ten women between the ages of 18 and 50 are affected with uterine fibroids, which frequently result in painful symptoms and other serious medical disorders.

It’s crucial to take action to enhance your general health throughout October when women are encouraged to get checkups, be aware of the signs and risk factors for breast cancer, and undergo screenings.

About 80% of Black women and 70% of white women will develop fibroids over the course of their lifetimes; however, the main causes of hysterectomies in American women are the lack of knowledge surrounding diagnosis and treatment.

Although fibroids and breast cancer are distinct diseases, they do share some similarities that make it crucial to comprehend and recognize the signs of both conditions. Genetic, environmental, and lifestyle variables can have an impact on both breast cancer that is estrogen-positive and uterine fibroids.

The goal of USA Fibroid Centers is to raise public knowledge of the fibroid condition, which affects fertile women. The symptoms of fibroids are not always present, especially when they are small. Uterine fibroids can induce a number of frequently incapacitating symptoms, such as:

  • Anemia
  • Pelvic ache
  • Urge to urinate
  • Prolonged, heavy menstrual cycles
  • Issues with conception

Yan Katsnelson, M.D., founder/CEO of USA Fibroid Centers, says, “Many women find fibroids after receiving a diagnosis and are unaware of non-surgical therapies, such as uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).”

Public health programs advise routine screenings for certain diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, because early detection of disease leads to more cures. Fibroids should be included on that list now.

From October 1 through October 31, women can make an appointment for a free fibroid screening by dialing 855-615-2555 and saying “free screening.”
