This election raises a particularly high amount of awareness surrounding the progression of this country. Social injustices that touch on deeply rooted and personal feelings and historical matters such as race, gender, religion, etc. It’s hard not to associate one’s perspective with their person.
I am particularly saddened by the media that is using its engagement power to divide rather than unify the community. Now more than ever we need to stand together as people and fight for our rights to freedom and true democracy. This election brings up more than just issues on taxes and healthcare, but social injustice and humanity. I, too, am guilty of saturating my timeline with opinions for my peers to address, but more importantly I continue to educate myself on the issues and the candidates.
Before anyone picks a side or suffocate your friends with your thoughts, its important that you become informed by watching the debates, listening to several media outlets and the perspectives they give, as well as keeping up with the fact checkers out there like FactCheck or PolitiFact.
What are your thoughts? Have you side eyed a few of your friends, family or co-workers for their thoughts on the upcoming election?
