Natural Eczema Lotion

Natural Eczema Lotion

I recently had a scare with eczema, as I had what is called allergen induced dermatitis/eczema. I found that there are many over-the-counter drugs that you could buy to help combat this horrible ailment, but nothing seemed to work long term. So, I tried the natural and DIY route. Along with the below recipe some other tips to help treat your eczema are:

    • Cutting down on bath frequency
    • Dairy-free diet
    • Foregoing harsh soaps
    • Using natural and/or mild detergents
    • Keeping skin moisturized

Ingredients for Natural Eczema Lotion

  • ½ cup pure shea butter
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 40 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5-10 drops tea tree essential oil

Directions to Prepare Natural Eczema Lotion

  1. Using a small pot, melt down shea butter and coconut oil until they are completely combined.
  2. Add honey and allow it to melt as well.
  3. Add lavender and tea tree oils once everything is mixed in together and in liquid form.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  5. Once your mixture has thickened a bit begin mixing with a hand mixer.
  6. Mix for several minutes until the color has lightened and the solution has a frothy appearance.
  7. Mix for 10-15 minutes until it has a lotion consistency.
  8. Remove mixture and place into a mason jar for storage. It is important to store at room temperature, as the mixture will melt down again.
  9. Apply once or twice a day over the affected area.
