Snoop Dogg, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Lion, the Doggfather, or just plain Snoop.
Regardless of whatever you want to call him, Snoop remains arguably one of the coolest cats, err, dogs, in the industry. It doesn’t matter if he is fighting a real-life murder trial or spitting hard and fun rap lyrics or cooking it up in the kitchen with Martha Stewart, Snoop is officially one of the OG's in the game.
Over the years, Snoop diversified his portfolio and became a one-man business machine. But it was his beliefs and lessons he learned from the transition from the streets to the industry that made him so wildly successful.
From his Doggy Fizzle Televizzle days to his successful YouTube channel WestFestTV, he has his hand on the pulse of the next generation. Not to mention his youth football league and thousands of other things he’s doing from music to cannabis, Snoop Dogg, at 50 years old, is one of the busiest men in the game.
The rapper also opened up about his feeling related to getting older and shared that everyone gets better over time. Comparing himself to fine wine, he said, "You got to treat yourself like fine wine. They say fine wine, it gets better over time.” He explained that one needs to look at getting older as getting wiser and one learns how to treat oneself as well as others. He further added, "You learn what life is about. So every precious day you are here to actually live another day, you should make the most of it. That’s what I focus on the most — trying to be the best version of me every day.”
Snoop Dogg’s double-decade-long career has a rare longevity in this young cultural art phenomenon.
“If I stop believing I can be right back there again so I gotta continue to push and work hard," explains Snoop. "Through my relationships in life with different people, I've picked up different work ethic and beliefs about how I should do it the only way I know how.”
So what keeps Snoop going? It's not just his drive to be better, he believes in taking care of his body as well as his mind.
Snoop's Workout Routine
Although Snoop may be slim, don't let his slender frame fool you. The music legend is never afraid of sweating it out in the gym. With the help of a trainer, Snoop performs a mixture of strength training, agility training, and full-body workout.
He does squats with heavy weights, shoulder presses, and dumbbell rows to help with his strength while running on the treadmill to engage his whole body. As for his agility training, he prefers a circuit of agility ladder and dribbling passes on the basketball court.
Snoop Dogg loves to switch things up when it comes to his workout. When he’s not using weights or running on the treadmill, the famous producer likes to get dirty in the ring, fighting it out with his hands.
Snoop is said to be a fan of martial arts and enjoys sparring with his trainer on some days. Due to his love for the WWE, the rapper incorporates some wrestling techniques into the mix. He has been praised for having a very sharp reflex, and easily dodging any attacks.
Snoop's Healthy Diet
It's no secret of the famous rapper’s love for marijuana, and he regularly incorporates it into his fitness regimen. Proving one can stay high and fit at the same time, Snoop Dogg once said about his morning routine:
"Gotta start off the day lighting one up and eating some fruit. Weed relaxes you and opens your mind. It can also make you laugh, which is a great form of medicine. I also drink Cuca Fresca because it’s fresh and all-natural."
Snoop also proudly revealed during that pandemic that he began incorporating a plant-based diet into his meals because he saw many of his close friends make the healthier choice. Although he isn’t fully vegan, he once explained his new love for plant-based options, saying:
“I needed to change up my diet a bit to help me give me all the nutrients I need to continue to be at the top of my game. Some of my immediate family are vegan and vegetarian so they helped me figure out the best plan with me.”
Snoop Dogg’s love for a healthy lifestyle is backed up by his immense wealth. The rapper who is known for his hefty investments in numerous business ventures expanded his reach into the food industry in 2020.
In March, he invested in an emerging plant-based food brand called Outstanding Foods. The vegan brand is the creator of PigOut Pigless Pork Rinds snack ― vegan pork rinds made out of pea protein. Snoop shared that he chose to partner with the brand because they give people healthier snack options.
Snoop thrives in his marriage as well.
In a Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, Snoop said “I used to seek counsel from Charlie Wilson from the GAP Band. Charlie Wilson helped keep my marriage together because there were times where I felt like ‘I don’t want to be in here no more. I want to go.’ Just being stupid, period. And Charlie would bring me back to reality like, ‘That’s the best thing that ever happened to you.’
The rapper and his wife have been married for 24 years and were high school sweethearts. “If you gone love, you gone love love,” he said. “When you get to where we’re at now, it’s just all fun.”
