As for what inspired the “America’s Next Top Model” creator to branch out, she said, “When I’m on social media and reading comments and stuff, the one that makes me smile the biggest is when people are like, ‘Dang girl, you look so young. I can’t believe you’re in your 40s.’ It feels so good, but there’s a reason for it. I get it from my mama. I’m not talking about DNA or some type of youth gene that passed down through the ages of my family; I’m talking about habits,” Banks said in a promo video.
In 2014, Banks took on the beauty industry — drawing on her knowledge of makeup from years in the modeling world — with the creation of “something fierce:” her very own cosmetics line, TYRA Beauty. “Without makeup, I would have never been a supermodel,” Banks told People at the time. “I don’t wake up with naturally sculpted cheekbones — I paint them on! I believe makeup is the great beauty equalizer.”
Considering in cities like Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles, among others, a decent bottle of serum can run you upwards of $100, the affordability factor is definitely a reason to keep Banks’ budding brand in mind.
