You may be like me and love having cold drinks or food on summer mornings. The air is too humid and the sun is too bright to have hot foods to start the day.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many cold breakfast foods. Cereal is the most popular, and yogurt is the second most popular.
Perhaps you are trying to be healthier, so sugary cereal isn’t a good option. Additionally, you may dislike the taste or texture of yogurt (speaking from experience), so that isn’t a preference either.
Well, having smoothies is the best option to solve your troubles.
Not only are they delicious, but you have full control of the texture and the ingredients that go inside the smoothie. It may take some trial and error, but you’ll for sure find a smoothie that you enjoy to start your day off right in the summer.

Chocolate-Based Smoothies
I am a huge fan of chocolate, so I try my hardest to find smoothies that incorporate cocoa powder.
I’m starting off with my personal favorite, a Chocolate Banana Smoothie. As someone who originally didn’t like citrus smoothies, I find that most smoothies are not delicious to me. That’s why I drink this smoothie all the time.
The ingredients are spinach, bananas and unsweetened cocoa powder. If you want the texture to be creamier, add milk and some water.
If you want it to be more of a frozen drink, add ice to the mix.
These are the three simple ingredients you need to make the base of the smoothie. If you want your smoothie to be sweeter, you can add syrup or a small packet of sweetener.

A Chocolate Avocado Smoothie is another great option for the morning. I always have too many avocados in my home that I need to use up, so this is perfect for using them before they go bad.
The ingredients are a ripe avocado, almond milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a banana.
For a more frozen drink, add ice for that chill taste since some of the ingredients might not be cold on their own. You can even add vanilla if you want a more prominent flavor in the drink.

Strawberry-Based Smoothies
Strawberries are a strong base for various smoothies. Depending on your fruit preference, some of these may taste great while others are disappointing. Remember that you’re in charge of portions, so if you know you’re not a huge fan of one of the ingredients, try only putting a small amount and adding another taste you love.
A Strawberry Mango Smoothie is a “classic” smoothie. You’ll find this at most smoothie shops as it’s certified to be delicious. It tastes like summer, and due to the vitamin A from the mangoes and the vitamin C in the strawberries, you’ll definitely start the day with energy.
The ingredients are frozen strawberries, mangoes, carrots, and any milk of your choice. If you want a little more flavor, you can add a tablespoon of lime or lemon juice.
A Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie is not as popular, but still worth a try if you want more of a punch. The ingredients for this are frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, a banana, milk, and a small portion of regular or Greek yogurt.

Pineapple-Based Smoothies
I’m not a huge fan of pineapple, but my sister used to love pineapples when she was younger. A lot of the smoothies she enjoyed had pineapple as the ingredient, giving the smoothie a tropical feel that’s perfect for the summer.
There are various types of pineapple smoothies.
For a Tropical Pineapple Smoothie, try frozen pineapple, frozen bananas, some honey, and milk. To make the smoothie feel even more tropical, I’d recommend using a hint of coconut milk or adding some lemon juice.
For an Avocado Pineapple Smoothie, try ripe avocado slices, frozen or dry spinach, water, frozen pineapples, and a sweetener packet, honey, or syrup if needed.

Portions
For all the smoothies, you can throw as much as you want into a blender and test out which portions work best for you.
Usually, for the main fruit, the portion sizes are 1 and a half to 2 cups.
For the secondary or third fruit, it’s usually only 1 cup.
For liquids, I personally eyeball it, depending on how thick I want a smoothie.
And for extras like cocoa powder, lime/lemon juice or honey, I use teaspoons to add little by little and test how much in the smoothie that morning.
Smoothies are trial and error, so take note of how much you put in and experiment with how you make them.
Mornings can be fun, engaging, and refreshing simply by making a smoothie to start the summer day right.
