Ready to visit Spain? How about taking a quick trip to Barcelona? While you may not be able to check off all the top tourist attractions on your list, you can still enjoy the beauty, culture, and history that the city offers.
Here’s how I spent 24 hours in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
1. Explore The City Using Public Transportation
There’s no need for Ubers and taxis if you only plan to spend 24 hours in Barcelona. Get to know the train system because it can take you to many attractions and make you feel more connected to the city.
I purchased a 24-hour pass at the airport which gave me full access to the transit system until the next day. My top two stops were Passeig de Gracia and Barcelonita.
Passeig de Gracia is a popular stop full of restaurants and shops. It’s also steps away from the Barcelona historical district. Barcelonita is where you’ll find the beach.
2. Taste The Popular Foods
Eating Tapas is a must-have experience in Barcelona. While you are on-the-go and enjoying all the sights around you, stop at one of the many Tapas restaurants and enjoy the bite-sized wonders to keep you going on your journey.
You can walk in any direction and you won’t be too far from a Tapas restaurant. Choose from an array of delicious bites including tender meat and vegetarian options. Just make sure you choose more than one tapas food option because the portions aren’t like your traditional U.S. supersized meal.
3. Walk On The Beaches & Boardwalks
Barcelona is known for its beaches. If you only have 24 hours to bask in the beauty of Barcelona, set aside a couple of hours to relax by the beach.
If you’re by Paseig de Gracia, the beach is only a few steps away. Take the train to the Barcelonita stop and you’ll enjoy a nice walk to the beachfront. Make sure your step counter is activated so you can get credit for your walk!
Then enjoy a walk along the ship docks. Try to get your precious photos before the sunsets. You can also grab your souvenirs and get more food in this area.
Ready for Barcelona? Follow these three tips to get you started. If you’re bursting with more energy, stop by the most popular attractions and dive into all the history that Barcelona has to offer.
