Stuffy noses, chest coughs, sinus headaches getting you down? Well, basketball wife, mom, and author, Ayesha Curry, shows you a quick and easy way to fix all of that to get you back on your feet and keep it moving.
This eucalyptus-and-peppermint chest rub from the Ayesha Curry cookbook smells even better, contains zero weird chemicals, and is crazy-easy to make. It’s like the old-school Vick’s vapor rub, but homemade.
Most chest rubs work by using strong menthol and camphor vapors to create a cooling sensation in your nasal passages that trigger receptors in your brain to feel that you’re breathing more openly.
First, Mrs. Curry pours two tablespoons of coconut oil into a bowl. Then she adds five drops of eucalyptus oil and three drops of peppermint oil. A little stir, and, that’s pretty much it. Simple, easy and straight to the point.
TAKE A LOOK: This Is Worst Than The Flu
With three simple ingredients, you’ll have a natural chest rub free of any harsh additives, meaning it’s better for you and for the environment. For best results with this homemade elixir, Curry explains she heats the mixture up between her palms before applying it to her chest, under her nose, hands, and even her daughters’ feet. With all-star recipes like this, it’s no wonder that Steph is at the top of his game too.

Another “Natural” Remedy
For decades (or maybe even centuries) people have used the Hot Toddy as a natural remedy for easing all those aches and pains that are associated with the common cold.
A great decongestant, the alcohol in whiskey dilates the blood vessels, making it easier for your mucus membranes to deal with the infection. Combined with hot water (or herbal tea, if you prefer), a squeeze of honey, lemon, and the warm steam emanating from the drink, you have the perfect concoction to help clear up your cold symptoms.
And by the time you finish the drink, you won’t only be breathing a bit easier, but the alcohol will also start working its magic, making you just drowsy enough so you can get some much-needed sleep.
Hot Toddy Chest Recipe:
- 1½ ounces whiskey
- 1 bar spoon honey
- 4 ounces boiling water
- ½ ounce lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in coffee or tea cup. Garnish with lemon side studded with clove and enjoy.
