It was just a month ago that we reported on Bishop Eddie Long’s new look and video showing off a much slimmer physique. At first glance you may think he might be sick, but he addresses that rumor and more in a recent Facebook video below.
You can literally see it in his face, neck and body that he’s lost a considerable amount of weight. Bishop Long responded Tuesday, September 6th, to reports that he is facing a serious health problem. The church’s Executive Administrator said today that Bishop Long is not in the hospital.
The church also released a statement from Bishop Long. It reads as follows:
“I am recovering from a health challenge that I trust God to deliver me from. It is unrelated to the eating for life diet consisting of mostly raw vegetables that I am continuing, as part of a holistic approach to good health.”
“I truly appreciate your prayers and support for me, my loved ones and my beloved New Birth Church Family.”
Back in August when he released the video, Bishop Long stated, “I said to my congregation I’m gonna live to be 100 years old…But I wasn’t going to get there [to age 100] by stopping by Popeye’s. That was my weakness,” Long says. “The biscuits with honey and the chicken wings, spicy.”
“Many of us are still eating from a ‘slave menu.’ You need to check that out,” explains Bishop. “Because if it wasn’t meant to be ingested… in order to reboot my body.”

“I have gone total raw vegetable. And so, I’m somewhat of a vegan…and it’s really, really given me a lot of energy.”
“I don’t want all that weight, I want health. I’m on zero medication. My blood pressure is 120/80. I used to take blood pressure medication and pills for years, but I am on zero medication.”

“I’m on the medicine that God gave you to feed your immune system to build you up,” he says in the clip. “You know what, if you really want to move through this world and have influence you gotta be spiritual and you have to walk by His commandments and you have to be healthy.”
We are praying for Bishop Eddie Long and his family, whatever the ailment is.
