Current statistics estimate that 1 in 3 children in the U.S. is overweight or obese, and likewise, that means 1 in 3 children are on track to develop diabetes in their lifetime (and likely at an earlier onset age).
According to a 2012 study by the CDC published in the journal Diabetes Care, the number of teen diabetics will increase by nearly 50 percent by the year 2050.
