Hip-hop pioneer Dr. Dre was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Monday after suffering a brain aneurysm.
Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, was born in the Southern California city of Compton, he broke onto the music scene as a co-founding member of N.W.A., producing the group’s groundbreaking 1988 debut album, “Straight Outta Compton.”
Dre produced his own hits and multiplatinum albums. He’s won six Grammys along with creating music for many others including Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Nas, Busta Rhymes, the Game and Anderson.Paak. has produced hits for Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and more. He also found success outside of rap, producing hits for multiple singers like Gwen Stefani and Mary J. Blige.
Dre also founded Beats Electronics in 2008 with Jimmy Iovine and six years later, they launched a streaming subscription service, Beats Music. Apple acquired both in a $3 billion deal in 2014.

The music mogul, as of late Tuesday evening, was in stable condition at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, according to multiple sources.
Dre underwent several tests Tuesday as it was not immediately known what caused the condition, the source said. But sources say he had suffered a brain aneurysm.
A brain aneurysm (AN-yoo-riz-um) is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain. It often looks like a berry hanging on a stem.

A brain aneurysm can leak or rupture, causing bleeding into the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). Most often a ruptured brain aneurysm occurs in the space between the brain and the thin tissues covering the brain. This type of hemorrhagic stroke is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage.
A ruptured aneurysm quickly becomes life-threatening and requires prompt medical treatment.
According to the Mayo Clinic, there are two common treatment options for a ruptured brain aneurysm:
1. Surgical clipping is a procedure to close off an aneurysm.
The neurosurgeon removes a section of your skull to access the aneurysm and locates the blood vessel that feeds the aneurysm. Then he or she places a tiny metal clip on the neck of the aneurysm to stop blood flow to it.
2. Endovascular coiling is a less invasive procedure than surgical clipping.
The surgeon inserts a hollow plastic tube (catheter) into an artery, usually in your groin, and threads it through your body to the aneurysm.
A doctor then uses a guide wire to push a soft platinum wire through the catheter and into the aneurysm. The wire coils up inside the aneurysm, disrupts the blood flow and essentially seals off the aneurysm from the artery.
In a Tuesday night statement to Page Six, Dre said he’s doing better and posted a message thanking everyone for their love and support.
“Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
Dre’s recent health issues seem to have some would-be burglers trying to take advantage of his hospitalization.
Four people were arrested in Los Angeles’ Brentwood area Wednesday night after a pursuit that followed a break-in attempt at the home of rap mogul Dr. Dre, who was hospitalized at the time with a brain aneurysm.
The pursuit began after a report of an attempted burglary at the home of the former N.W.A member and Beats Electronics founder, whose estate has infrared cameras that spotted the intruders after they hopped a fence. A security team notified police.
The group ran up a hill and got back into a full-size white SUV, police said. The pursuit on winding tree-lined streets in the Brentwood area ended at Sunset Boulevard and Amalfi Drive.
Four people were arrested. Several tools that are believed to have been used the break-in were found in the SUV, police said.
