The Thanksgiving holiday is not just a time of good cheer. It can be a stressful season when it comes to healthy eating, especially for those who are watching their waistline. According to some estimates, that traditional November meal can set an individual back up to 4,500 calories which is more than a day’s total caloric intake in one sitting. However, it does not have to sabotage your weight. With the right tools and personal commitment, you can still embrace a guilt-free feast fit for a King or Queen!
As a woman who has lost over 100 pounds, I’d like to share the following tips so you can still feel great and stay healthy on Thanksgiving Day:
1. Workout = Wynning! Make it a priority, not an option! Plan to perform a longer duration of cardio and strength training (if you are able). This should happen the day before, the morning of and the day after Thanksgiving. This will reduce the impact of your meal by keeping your metabolism revved up throughout the day.
2. Eat before your feast! Saving up your calories for your big meal might seem smart, but it is not. Starving your body will only make you eat more. Make sure you eat a well-balanced meal with protein and fiber to keep satisfied and sexy.

3. Make H2O your BFF! There is nothing more purifying to your temple and universe than H2O. Drinking it 20 to 30 minutes before your meal will help prevent you from overeating. Why? It is truly a natural appetite suppressant.
4. Switch to small plates! It’s all about mind control and what you see in front of you. Research backs this up 100%! A study published in the Journal of Consumer Research found that people given a smaller plate will take less food and eat fewer calories. With that in mind, switch out your big dinner plate for one that’s 6 to 8 inches wide. Your physique will thank you later.
Most importantly, give gratitude to your temple by cherishing it on a day meant to give thanks!
