It’s time to spring clean your life.
It may not feel like it in some parts of the U.S., but, spring is officially here!
While some of us are transitioning into warmer temperatures and others are still feeling the impact of the harsh winter season, all of us should be prepping for a good spring clean.
Now is the time to start getting rid of things we no longer need, in order to make room for the new blessings that are on their way. However, instead of just focusing on doing away with old clothes or other household goods we no longer use, the start of the spring season also makes for a good time to do a mental check-in with yourself.
As the saying goes, ‘April showers bring May flowers.’ If you’ve been feeling the rain a little too much recently, here are a few tips to help prepare your mind and body for the flowers that are soon to bloom if you make way for them.
Organize your closet to spring clean your life
That one dress that’s cute but you still can’t figure out where you’ll wear it, has to go. Any stray purses that now collect receipts, old shoes, and shirts that are worn out and haven’t been used in years, pack them up and get rid of them.
Keep the clothes and accessories that make you feel good about yourself and compliment you as well.
Declutter your household
I don’t know about you, but for me, a cluttered household can easily create a cluttered mind. So, in addition to organizing your closet, be sure to not only clean house of any items you no longer need but organize your entire space as well.
If you have pieces of art that have been hanging around on the kitchen counter, find a good spot where you can hang them on a wall and show them off.
As for that huge pile of laundry that’s been sitting on your couch for the past few weeks and has now transformed your sofa into a temporary dresser – fold and put away everything accordingly.
Start a self-care routine to spring clean your life
Light some candles, put on some music, grab your favorite bath bomb and melt into a nice, warm bath.
You can also try a new fitness class that’ll make you sweat out any toxins and work out your body or carve in some alone time where you can relax as you read a few chapters of your favorite book.
Your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship you’ll ever have and how you feel about yourself says a lot about how others will treat you, so make sure you’re treating yourself right.
This is your dedicated time to be selfish and do what feels good to you.
Analyze relationships to spring clean your life
If there’s anyone in your life that makes you feel bad about being yourself or has shown you why you’re not important to them, it may be time to let them go.
The length of time you’ve known them or everything you’ve experienced with them doesn’t matter.
This may not be easy, but it’s worth it in the long run. Surround yourself with people who love and accept you for who you are and encourage your positive growth.
Establish new goals
There’s always room for growth, right?
Challenge yourself to try something new in order to tap into that growth.
Are you settling or are you happy in your current career field? If you’re bored and don’t see yourself growing into something better in your current position, now is the time to create a clear mind and be real with what you want.
If you’ve always dreamed of starting your own business, create a goal that by the end of the year, you’ll make an investment in yourself that’s going to get you closer to accomplishing that goal.
This spring, make it a point to get rid of the dead weight in your life and embrace new beginnings.
