Apply to wet hair
Your hair shaft is open once the hair is damp. This no-ammonia product applies the best on towel-dried hair and will adhere to the color better. It will also help with a more even application, assisting in using less of the dye which results in healthier hair.
Section it off
To avoid patchiness, create a middle part that runs to the back of your head and split the hair into four sections — two in front of the ears and two in the back.
This makes for a more organized application process.
We also suggest using clips to create four sections and work through them front to back.

Wash hair less frequently
As we stated, the hair shaft is opened when wet. So, the best way to avoid dull hair color is to stay away from shampoo.
Instead, shampoo and towel dry hair prior to applying the color. Once applied, simply rinse out the hair dye and condition as usual.
Keep in mind that this applies to semi-permanent hair colors only.
Make it vibrant
To extend the life of your color, opt for color-safe, sulfate-free shampoos.
Also, look for shampoos for your specific color — especially if you’ve gone red. Be sure to rinse your hair with cool water.
