The now viral video, “Suit and Tie in the 217,” features a group of black male students dressed picture-day-fly in sweater vests, blazers and button downs with Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” providing the perfect theme music for these young superheroes.
Released during Black History Month, the video was created to tell a different story for young, black men. Quotes in the video like, “We Are Not Gangsters And Thugs,” “We Are Employees and Volunteers,” and “We Are Scholars” send the message loud and clear.”The negative stories told daily in the media and in our culture about our young African-American men tend to ignore their successes and don’t tell the full story about how young Black men are becoming leaders within our community schools,” said Tiffany Gholson, a Central High counselor, in a recent interview.

“In this video, our students reclaim the narrative of who they are and inspire other students to follow in their footsteps.”
I hope more students will be inspired because this video is EVERYTHING.
