One of the golden rules of girl code – never date your girl’s ex.
One of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams, may have broken that code.
On May 10, Porsha went to her Instagram and posted a picture of her and her new man, Simon Guobadia. To make matters more interesting, Simon posted on May 11 to say that he and Porsha were engaged! Social media had a lot to say, as for those who watch the show, Simon was married to Porsha’s ex-friend Falynn Guobadia. The two were estranged and had put in for divorce in January, but everyone knows the process can take quite a while.
Quite a few reality TV stars have spoken up, like RHOA’s Kenya Moore, Marlo Hampton, and Basketball Wives’ Tami Roman.
The Shade Room posted Tami saying, “My stance has not changed. When somebody is in a relationship, they have to be held accountable for the relationship that they’re in and they should respect the relationship they’re in.”
Kenya and Marlo both showed support and were Team Falynn, posting words of kindness under Falynn’s post revealing her thoughts.
Falynn spoke up and the post said, “I want to thank everyone for reaching out to me and offering their love and support. At ths time, I am focusing on finalizing my divorce and healing. Sending positivity to all of you. Sincerely, Falynn.”
Marlo posted on Instagram with the caption, “It’s the audacity for me!”
Porsha cut off her Instagram comments on the original post and Simon’s comments are still off as well.
On Twitter, someone pointed out that Porsha’s engagement ring looks exactly like Falynn’s old ring.
A breach in trust such as this, can cause someone to have trust issues and they can have difficulties forming relationships later, their attachment style could change and they could even develop anxiety. On the other hand, divorces and breakups can result in one feeling grief, which can be a difficult emotion to take on. If unchecked, grief can lead to depression and even suicidal thoughts/ideation. When something like this because overwhelming, it is important to seek out help from a professional who can guide you to a path of healing and give you support.
If you have ever been in a situation, such as this, it is an excellent time to use positive coping strategies like journaling, going to a friend you really trust and supports you, taking a small break and going on a trip or doing something to treat yourself. Someone like Falynn, with a large social media presence, might find it beneficial to break away from social media for a while and focus on herself, her divorce and her mental health.
Falynn, my heart goes out to you because this is a clear breach of Girl Code. What do you think?
