READ: The Fat-Burning Power Of Green Tea
Take my mother for instance. At 71, who despite trying her hand at Atkins, Weight Watchers, taking Garcinia Cambogia pills and simply cutting back on diet soda, couldn’t get back down to her “ideal” weight. Although she looks GREAT for a mother of 10 (her five foot frame weighing in at 126 lbs) she hopped off the bandwagon and began exploring new ways to treat the mind, body and spirit connection.
That is when she came across Prime Tea. According to Integrative Neurologist Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary, author of The Prime: Prepare and Repair Your Body for Spontaneous Weight Loss, the path to shedding excess pounds begins with sharpening the brain, smartening up and healing the gut.
“Weight gain is not about the food, but about the body’s environment. Excess weight is a result of the body being in a toxic, inflammatory state. If your body is not prepared or ‘primed’ for weight loss, you will fight an uphill biochemical battle,” writes Chaudhary. By implementing simple teas and herbs (without giving up the foods you love), into your diet, Chaudhary goes on to say you can “stop dieting backward and start losing weight instead.”

In about a month, my mother lost 3 pounds drinking the tea she says is both “simple” to make and “mild” tasting. While 3 pounds may not sound like much, the drink created from cumin, fennel and coriander seeds has also addressed her digestive issues and eliminated her craving for Diet Coke.
According to Chaudhary, this is just the beginning as “the simple warmth from the tea is a vasodilator, opening blood vessels and lymph vessels to widen” clogged channels” which she compares to “a freeway pile-up” or “fallen tree over a residential street.” Chaudhary explains, “It’s like building an extra lane to accommodate construction, or widening a narrow road.”
Despite the ancient remedy’s “odd smell” and “uncommon” ingredients, my mother adds that her energy levels are up. Which, per the book, is right on track. “As you work through the first stage of this plan, you will notice a sense of warmth growing in your belly, you agni. This is the energy that absorbs nutrients, assimilates them into the body and burns off toxins and excess fat,” writes Chaudhary. Adding, “If your digestion is weak, you feel cold all the time, and you feel lethargic, this tea will help because it increases the energy of agni and at the same time begins to reduce inflammation in the body,” better known as that unsettling late afternoon bloat.
While 30 days is a short time to gauge the success of a weight loss program, if you’re looking for an alternative way to both “clean things up” on the inside and lose weight naturally, Prime Tea may be a good look. As always, in order to reach your goals, you must follow the plan to your best ability – knowing that even if you slip up, you can bounce back without feeling the guilt associated with many popular diets.
