Now, this isn’t an article telling you that fruit isn’t good for you and that you should exclude it from your daily intake because that statement is far from the truth. Another way that fruit can be harmful to the body is if you’re consuming too much of a high acidic type of fruit. It can cause your body’s pH levels to be thrown off or cause imbalances.
Another way fruit can be a con to you and your body is by messing with your skin. This does tie into allergies but it can be a little more than that.

These Different Types Of Fruits May Be Causing Both Harm And Good
Since fruits are considered healthy and many people believe that in order to continue to be healthy or to become healthier, they need to eat more and more fruits. Fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, peaches, pineapples, and others are great to eat and add to your meals or to use in your concoctions but they can cause a few medical problems.
One issue that they can cause is the decaying of your teeth. This is due to them being citrus fruits and having high levels of citric acid in them. The acid from the fruits weakens the enamel on your teeth, which can, later on, cause your teeth to be more susceptible to damage.
When it comes to skin rashes and citrus fruits, it can be a very common occurrence, and here’s why. If you suffer from allergies to pollen, then 7 times out of 10, you suffer from a citrus allergy as well. This is due to the pollinosis, sensitization of other plants, and the cross-reactivity it has with citrus fruits.
One of the main symptoms of a reaction to citrus is a skin rash, mostly found around the mouth (oral syndrome). Another symptom is skin redness, swelling and itchiness. So if you are already living with allergies and suffering from skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis, then eating citrus fruits could worsen these conditions.
How To Keep Your Fruit Intake High And Your Skin Problems Low
The easiest way to avoid skin rashes when it comes to citrus fruits is to avoid eating them, but seeing as they have nutritional value, that may be difficult.
Instead of having to cut them out altogether, try lowering the number of citrus fruits you are consuming. Staying away from the pulp of these fruits can be helpful as well.
Another easy way to avoid irritation is to eat other fruits and vegetables that have the same nutrients as citrus fruits but not the acid.
Being aware of your allergies doesn’t mean you have to give up on fruits completely, it just means that you find better alternatives and be more mindful of how you are and how often you are consuming them so your health doesn’t have to suffer because of it.
