Serena Williams’ list of accomplishments in the tennis world is encyclopedic.
The G.O.A.T (yeah, I said it!) recently won her 22nd Grand Slam title at Wimbledon and is currently preparing for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
We know what it is when she steps on the tennis court, but we also know her moves are just as fierce and bold off the court.

In a behind-the-scenes video for SELF magazine, Williams – SELF’s September cover model – drops it low and shows us how to twerk.
“Everyone at some point should do a twerk,” Williams says in the video. I couldn’t agree more. If you do it right it’s a workout!
The playful video isn’t the first time we’ve seen her dance skills. The tennis star’s twerk was front and center in Beyonce’s “Sorry” video.
When asked how she became part of the video, Williams told the Associated Press,”I have known the director since I was like nine years old.
I know Beyonce pretty well, so they were like, ‘We would love for you to be in this particular song.
It’s about strength and it’s about courage and that’s what we see you as.'”
She went on to say, “She told me that she just wants me to dance, like just be really free and just dance like nobody’s looking and go all out. So that wasn’t easy in the beginning, but then it got easier.”
The #CarefreeBlackGirl side of Serena Williams is one that we’re seeing a lot more of these days. From the cover story in SELF:
Now, Williams is also beginning to share a side of herself with fans that’s increasingly unfiltered.
There’s a goofier, more playful Serena to be discovered on Snapchat, where you’ll find her lip-synching to Justin Bieber, cooking chicken like an Iron Chef contestant, and having a fangirl meltdown after meeting Tom Brady.
The medium brings Williams out into the open even more completely, which, for her, is exactly the point. “I wish people didn’t know I slept with a teddy bear,” she quips, referring to one of her many posts, “but now they do. It’s out there.”
Offline, she started a dance team called the Kryptonians with some friends, facing off for judges at an annual Williams family-and-friends blowout. (Who came up with the name? “I did,” she announces proudly. “I’m obsessed with Superman.”)
“I am who I am. I love who I am,” Williams tells SELF.
We love it, too!
