Today when I get off of work, I am going to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription, get some products for my hair, and a bottle of baby lotion. I’m an adult woman with no children. So why the baby lotion? I think the answer is obvious. Have you felt the softness of a baby’s skin before? That is exactly what the lotion aims to protect, the delicate nature of the skin. Baby lotion forms a protective layer over the skin, which can help keep sensitive adult skin from getting irritated or dry.
If your skin is extremely dry (dehydrated even) or chaffed, baby lotion can help. It has even been known to improve eczema. Some adults just have sensitive skin. Period. If you find yourself breaking out with a reaction to the lotion you’re using now, you may want to try baby lotion since it is hypoallergenic and made with fewer to no chemicals and alcohol in it. Another circumstance that may call for baby lotion is if you want to help fade stretch marks. Some things I noticed when applying the baby lotion are: it is absorbed into the skin quicker than regular lotion, it didn’t cause me to break out like other lotions have in the past, and the fragrance of the lotion lasts all day (these days, baby lotion comes in a variety of soft scents like lavender and vanilla). Also – if you’re the worrying type – realize that if the lotion is meant for the delicate skin of a baby, it likely won’t harm your adult skin.
Due to its mild nature, it does not sting when it is rubbed over a wound. Also, ladies, baby lotion is a great makeup remover. Take a cotton ball, put some baby lotion on it, and simply dab your face. Leave the lotion on your face for 30 seconds to a minute. Then, taking a moist washcloth, wipe the lotion and makeup off.
If you’re trying to figure out how to keep your skin looking as youthful as possible, baby lotion is a start. Even if it does not give you the results that you are expecting, it certainly can’t hurt: we rub it on babies!
