There have been some observational studies that showed red meat is associated with cardiovascular diseases–some even having cancer-causing agents. However, red meat, when raised and fed properly, has great benefits for our health.
Humans have digested red meat for centuries. Lamb, bison, veal–and cows being the most popular, it isn’t an uncommon food item. So it would be likely that years of digesting these herbivorous mammals have been inscribed into our food consumption line. And if you are one of those people who just can’t seem to let red meat go, here’s 3 reasons why you don’t have to:
1. Way to get those vitamins in
Red meat is loaded with vitamins and other great minerals. Vitamins B3, B6, B12 are great at turning our food into fuel for our bodies. They “charge us up” and help keep us active. How many times after a meal have youbecome sluggish and sleepy?
Food should give you energy, and red meat is loaded with the perfect vitamins to keep you energized throughout the day. Large amounts of iron and zinc are found in red meat as well. We know that iron is good for our red blood cells which carry oxygen throughout our bodies. Regular, internal air-flow help keeps us healthy. And in those same cells is where we find zinc. Zinc is needed to help aid and assist in the proper function of our immune system.
A great immune system can help us fight off infections and sickness, as well as prevent disease-causing agents to infiltrate our bodies. Zinc is also responsible for growth and fertility and promoting healthy skin, hair, nails, and eyes.
2. Increase that Sex Drive!
We’ve learned that red meat is enriched with zinc. But did you know that zinc is also a nutrient that can boost testosterone levels and enhance your sex drive? Yes! Testosterone is the male hormone responsible for promoting high libidos, or sex drives. The higher levels of testosterone, the higher the libido.
The zinc found in red meat plays an important part in sperm as well. “Without zinc, the sperm will lack the mobility and strength for conception”, according to Dr. Sam Robbins, who is a health and fitness expert. Zinc is an overall vital nutrient for males and their reproductive agencies. Red meats are also loaded with saturated fats. These fats may be known to raise blood cholesterol, but they are too help with boosting testosterone. It should come as no surprise though. Increase the beef, if you want to “Increase YOUR Beef!” (Get it?)
3. Great Source of Protein
Overall, red meats are great sources of protein. The same protein needed for healthy hair, skin, and nails is the same protein needed to strengthen our bones and muscles. Just like your bones need Vitamin D to stay healthy, they also need protein. Strong bones reduce the risk of diseases like osteoporosis and conditions like arthritis. The key to a fulfilling physically fit life is having strong bones and muscles!
And there you have it!
Red meat will have you living your best life. It fuels our bodies, promotes great and healthy sex lives and aids in our bone development! ….And it is tassttyy! Why not enjoy the many benefits of it?
It’s important to remember, too much of anything is never good for you and everything should always be in moderation.
“To Beef, or Not to Beef?”. That is the question. And the Answer is, YES!
