Some of us highly anticipate the turn of the season to indulge in some much-needed retail therapy while others dread the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. We get it, there are so many people out and the shopping runs us the risk of falling into the red if we don’t budget properly.
Worry not and feel more confident this season by following these six ways to save big on your holiday shopping:
1. Thrift Décor
Items like this are typically a very random find, however, when you discover nice and intact holiday décor at your local thrift store, grab it!
You can find all things Christmas from a faux Christmas tree, to ornaments, to string lights there.
Don’t shy away from the upscale items either! You never know, you may find some new authentic crystal to adorn your home.
2. Get Big Ticket Items Early
The holidays bring on a lot of sales, this is because retailers have to get rid of their off-season inventory just in time for the holidays.
You may not get that brand-new 2024 smart TV, but you can still snag the 2022 or 2023 version and nab a huge deal.
3. Don’t Be Afraid to Potluck
Thinking of having a huge feast for Christmas? Invite some friends over and ask them each to bring a certain dish.

5. Gift What’s Needed
Short on cash? Think of things that your kiddos or partner actually need this holiday. It could be as simple as an electric toothbrush your wife has been eyeing or a fun comforter set of your kid’s favorite character.
6. There’s Always Next Year
Last, but certainly not least. Remember to take it easy with the spending.
Don’t spend what you don’t have, and avoid layaway plans and payday loans. They’ll only put you in a financial hole once the holidays are over. If you have it, get it. If you don’t, there’s always next year.
