Camille Winbush: All Grown Up & Doing It Her Way

The phrase, “beyond her years,” comes to mind when talking about the young, beautiful, Camille Winbush. Winbush, who was discovered at the tender age of 2, has literally had nearly 30-year career. That’s a considerable amount of time in front of the camera considering she’s only 32-years old.

Hollywood can be harsh, but Winbush’s parents did an amazing job of balancing her stardom while keeping her childhood as normal as possible.

She caught her big break when she landed the role of Vanessa Thompkins, the oldest of Bernie Mac's sister's kids on critically-acclaimed "The Bernie Mac Show." The show aired between 2001 and 2006, and Winbush received several nominations and awards for her role.

When asked if she was in any way similar to Lauren, Winbush quickly replies, stating that she strictly minds her own business.

"As for kids, you can only be on set for a certain amount of hours," Winbush explains to Hype Magazine. "So, depending on your age, the most you can be on a set is 9 ½ hours when you’re under 18. Unless you have emancipated yourself or whatever the situation may be. So, we actually filmed, “The Bernie Mac Show,” 5-days a week and I was on set for that 9 ½ hours and between filming scenes, I would be doing schoolwork. Sometimes it was overwhelming trying to keep up with learning your lines and on top of that you got a science project and you have to go to gymnastics practice until 9:00 at night. But you find a way to make it work."

Since the show went off the air after the untimely death of Bernie Mac in 2008, the talented actress has continued to make a name for herself in the acting industry, appearing in various TV series including Criminal minds and NYPD: Blue — among others.

"I think my first love will always be television," explains Winbush in a 2018 interview. "That’s where I started. That’s where I’ve had the most success. I think movies are fun to do, but there’s not really any longevity in it. You do a movie for a couple of months and then it’s done. And you move on. But with a television show, it can go on for years. And you really get to develop a character. You just learn so much from being on a set that long."

Another thing that made fans and followers look at Winbush in a more grown-up way is when she explained she has joined OnlyFans, the member-only fansite.

She has, in fact, been posting since January 2021. But she says she is “doing it [her] way,” explaining a little bit about the type of posts she will be featuring on the platform.

"Yes, you heard that right. I have joined OnlyFans!", Winbush posts on her Instagram. "But I’m doing it my way- I’ll be saying the things I really want to say, singin’ & dancing, and

sharing exclusive content. But don’t think it’s just for the men. I’m finally dropping the skin care routine, I’ll be doing regular live sessions with Q&A’s, special guests, and most importantly- I’ll be able to talk to and connect with you one on one.

I want to hear from you so come thru!"

Of course, OnlyFans has mostly made a name for itself as a platform for nudity.

Camille Winbush’s announcement post had her jumping from a regular t-shirt into a form-fitting dress, she sets expectations that her OnlyFans page will not be raunchy.

"My way = minimal nudity. So if that’s what you’re expecting sorry not sorry to disappoint," she shares.

Despite this latest announcement, the young talent still has a strong head on her shoulders.

"The biggest piece of advice that really resonated with me is from, Bernie Mac.

He told me that, “When people call you a star, you’re so famous, you’re this and that, don’t let it go to your head. Stars are in the sky and stars can fall.”
