Many say that LisaRaye didn't have that good of a relationship with her mother because of what they saw on an episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life. In the episode, LisaRaye, her mother, and her daughter all were trying to come to an agreement after issues of all of them living together came up.

“It’s been four or five years and I just don’t feel as grown as I am,” she told the Breakfast Club radio show about housing her mother, daughter, and other relatives in her home. “My mom is sick, so I’ve been taking care of her for the last couple of years so I’m really honored to be able to spend that time with her, but it’s heavy and it’s stressful. It’s emotional.”

“It’s no secret that we did Iyanla: Fix My Life a couple years ago, but the tables have turned,” McCoy went on to say. “She’s not the strong, vibrant woman she was when she was raising me, so now I’m seeing my mom deteriorate in front of my face and it’s hard for me to even watch that. It’s hurtful, it’s emotional, it’s stressful. I feel suffocated, drained, definitely. And then just sorrow and guilt, all wrapped up in one and that’s too many emotions to go through everyday, all the time.”

Upon hearing the news of her mom's death, some folks on social media had something to say.

"I hope this doesn’t come off as rude," one commentor said. "But I really hope she’s at peace because she seem to be very angry on Fix My Life and was jealous of how well Lisa Raye was treated by her dad or how close they were. She wanted Lisa Raye to hate her father because he was a cheater when that really has nothing to do with the child."

"She was a pretty woman," commented another social media user. "I know Lisa Raye and her mother had their struggles, but it's clear they loved each other. Peace and healing to Lisa Raye and the rest of her family."

LisaRaye lost her father David McCoy in 1988. David was a self-made multimillionaire and owned multiple businesses. Later, LisaRaye found out that her father was murdered.

As soon as LisaRaye posted about the loss of her mother, the internetflooded with condolence messages.

Cynthia Bailey showed her concern in the comment section, "I am so deeply sorry Lisa Raye. my prayers are with you and your family." "I'm so sorry sis praying for YOU! May God give you every ounce of comfort you need," wrote another.

A fan tried to cheer LisaRaye, "Stay strong LR… God’s got u… I love you…… for u n the fam!!" "Love you LRaye …she was a pleasure every time I saw her. I’ll be continuing to pray for the fam," wrote Brooke Valentine.
