Sherman Morris, a yoga instructor out of New York City, has been practicing for 20 years. Morris says when he began practicing yoga, “There was a shift in the way I interacted with the universe. Things weren’t affecting me as they were before.”
Morris notes that yoga helps to calm you, one of the many mental benefits of yoga. An extremely useful thing in a hectic place like the Big Apple. He says that you’ll react differently to situation by practicing this way of life.

“You’ll fall but you’ll bounce back. You find comfort in being uncomfortable. How we approach the practice on the mats is how we approach life. You’re put in uncomfortable positions and you’re challenged to deal with it. It’s uber helpful if you live in New York City. It’s a zoo here”
Although the physical attributes of the practice are secondary, Morris explains they are extremely beneficial. He says, “I’m more ripped up than I was before.” He notes that yoga increases flexibility, tone, respiration, energy levels, metabolism, weight loss and protects the body from injury.
