Rapper Remy Ma and her husband Papoose have been the epitome of new age love on the show, Love & Hip-Hop: New York ever since the show aired. The young couple has professed and proclaimed their love for one another, got married and were expecting their first child.

But, Remy Ma and Papoose went from receiving the best news ever, to devastation after learning they lost the baby. It turned out that Remy Ma had an ectopic pregnancy and the fetus needed to be removed. The doctor also added another blow: Remy would not be able to have any more natural pregnancies.

“I promised my husband that I would give him the child that he’s been asking me for since almost the day he met me and I can’t do that any more… This doesn’t make sense!”

In a normal pregnancy, a fertilized egg travels through a fallopian tube to the uterus. The egg attaches in the uterus and starts to grow. But in an ectopic pregnancy , the fertilized egg attaches (or implants) someplace other than the uterus, most often in the fallopian tube. This is why it is sometimes called a tubal pregnancy. In rare cases, the egg implants in an ovary, the cervix, or the belly.

There is no way to save an ectopic pregnancy. It cannot turn into a normal pregnancy. If the egg keeps growing in the fallopian tube, it can damage or burst the tube and cause heavy bleeding that could be deadly. If you have an ectopic pregnancy, you will need quick treatment to end it before it causes dangerous problems.

In her post on instagram, Remy explains why she decided to share this very personal moment with the public.

“This was a hard time for me & my husband & we thought long and hard before deciding to share this part of our lives with you all. I was totally against it but in a fit of crying Papoose said ‘you are not the only one going thru this, we will get thru it’ …made me realize how many women like myself experience the same thing and don’t have a strong partner by their side to say it will be alright. So I’m here to tell anyone going thru a similar situation that it is not over and God has the last say so.”
