7 Easy Ways to Reduce Inflammation Overnight

how to reduce inflammation

There are several natural remedies that can be used to reduce inflammation overnight. In America, our diets, lack of sleep, and lack of exercise often cause our bodies to carry excess inflammation. We can combat this through a variety of natural remedies, including intermittent fasting, stretching, watching our diets, eating fruits and vegetables, getting the right amount of sleep, exercising, and icing inflamed body parts. People with achy joints or conditions such as psoriatic arthritis may benefit from reducing bodily inflammation.

Read on to learn about 7 easy ways to reduce inflammation overnight.

Intermittent fasting is one of the most effective ways to reduce inflammation in the body. In our culture, we often eat several times per day without allowing our food to digest. This can create excess inflammation in the body. Intermittent fasting is the practice of waiting an extended period of time before eating again. It allows your food to fully digest and reduces inflammation in the body.

Joint Care

Use a heating pad or take a soothing warm bath to loosen up stiff joints and muscles and reduce inflammation. Use your entire hand rather than just some of your fingers to open doors and lift heavier objects whenever feasible. Use assistive contraptions to open bottles and jars to avoid straining your fingers and hands. Taking general care of your joints is a great way to reduce bodily inflammation.

Watching Your Diet

inflammation

Watch your diet. Fast foods can increase inflammation in your body. Salty foods and those high in fat can cause bloating, swelling, and inflammation in your joints and other body parts. Drink plenty of water to flush out unhealthy foods and stay on a healthy diet when possible.

Eating Fruits and Vegetables

Eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to reduce bodily inflammation. Fruits and vegetables are packed full of antioxidants and essential nutrients. Antioxidants can help fight inflammation in the body. Eat green vegetables to get vitamin A and K. Eat fruits like oranges, bananas, and blueberries to get the right amount of vitamin C and the added inflammatory benefits of antioxidants.

Getting the Right Amount of Sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep will help you combat fatigue and inflammation. Try to go to bed at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning. If you have a problem falling asleep, try taking a soothing warm bath before bed or taking melatonin.

Also, take some time to rest and relax during your busy day. Read or listen to your favorite music for 20 minutes.

Exercising

It’s difficult to think about exercise when experiencing painful symptoms, but exercise is essential for your health. It can help maintain muscles and improve flexibility.

Exercise can also help you keep a healthy weight to put less stress on your joints and muscles.

If you’re hurting, try exercising in a pool. The water will allow you to build strength without stressing your joints and muscles.

If you don’t have time for daily exercise, take several 10-minute pauses to stretch and perform some range of motion exercises. Your physician, physical therapist, or trainer can suggest detailed activities for your condition.

Icing

Use ice or a cold pack on your joints and muscles to help relieve pain. Icing your inflamed and swollen joints can help reduce the uncomfortable symptoms of inflammation.

Takeaway

Those with high levels of bodily inflammation can benefit from these practices. Those with conditions like psoriatic arthritis can fight inflammation by incorporating some of these daily practices into their lives.
