In an effort to “turn the tables on negativity, “and “overcome social misconceptions,” the premier clothing retailer for sizes 14 to 28 has launched its latest campaign, which also features Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl Ashley Graham, and models Candice Huffine and Alessandra Garcia-Lorida, as a direct response to body shamers everywhere.
“We realized we hadn’t tackled social media shaming directly. On average, most plus-size women get shamed three times a day in person, and it’s much worse on the Internet,” Hans Dorsinville, exec VP and creative director at Laird + Partners said, according to Lane Bryant’s press release.
What better way to address “the scrutiny women face on a daily basis — both in a positive and negative light,” than to partner up with these beautiful, voluptuous women?
In the ad, Brooks and her curvaceous campaign costars–all sporting tons of skin—prove #ThisBody is “made to shine,” as each sounds off on negative conversations happening on social media every day. “No one should be comfortable at a size 14,” Brooks restates wearing sexy black shapewear. “Well I sure the hell am.”
“Do you see those rolls?” Huffine reads. “Welcome to the bakery, honey.”

One by one, the women strike a fierce pose, flaunting the curves that have long been shamed by society. “She’d never be a model if it wasn’t for her dad,” Alessandra, who is the daughter of actor Andy Garcia, repeats. “But I got all this from my mama.”
