There’s so many different types of hairbrushes on the market right now, but how do you know you’re using the right brush for your hair type?
1. Synthetic Bristle Brush
These types of brushes are best for thick hair. It is synthetic, so it doesn’t create as much static as a real bristle brush. These are great for getting tangles out in thick, unruly hair. These can be found in most department stores such as Walmart, Target, CVS or Walgreens.
2. Natural Bristle Brush
These brushes are usually made of boar bristles, it is super soft and helps distribute your hair’s natural oils all the way to the tips of your hair. Although the 100% boar bristles can be a pricey, its benefits are so good that they were worth saving up for. The natural bristle brush is best for girls with fine, straight or relaxed hair. These brushes are very gentle and easy on delicate hair.
3. Paddle Brush
This is your everyday, go-to brush. It helps to give you a great blow out as well as get tangles out. It doesn’t create a ton of volume, but it helps flatten out frizz for smooth hair and tons of shine.
4. Vented Brush
These are great for drying hair, because the brush is vented the blow dryer is able to reach both sides of the brush therefore drying hair quicker and eliminating heat time and damage. Make sure when using a brush on wet hair, it is at least 80% dry because wet hair is much more prone to breakage.
5. Round Brush
If you’re looking for some major volume and subtle curls, this is the brush for you. They come in tons of different sizes—the smaller the brush, the tighter the curl. Try blasting the section of hair with cold air before you take out the brush, since this will help set the style.
6. Wide Tooth Comb
This is the brush you want to use when your hair is wet. Going in and brushing your hair with a bristle brush will stretch your hair strands, making them weak and easily broken. Using this wide tooth comb will detangle knots without tearing out your hair.
