Taking to his official Instagram account on Saturday night (March 4), singer/actor Tyrese revealed that award-winning Gospel singer Kim Burrell is in the hospital with pneumonia in both of her lungs. He further admits that he is “worried” and “in tears.”
In a lengthy caption, coupled with a photo and video of the two, Tyrese wrote, “Just three weeks ago mother was in the best of spirits. I just got a call today that brought me to tears stepmother has pneumonia and both of her lungs I’m freaking out I don’t know what to do a Center 15,000 to cover whatever medical bills.
If you know Kim, you have a relationship with her you can’t donate money that’s fine but just please prayer warriors stop everything you doing and send the most sincere and beautiful prayer for the breakthrough that mama Kim can get to the other side of this unexpected health crisis I am worried I’m in tears.”
Tyrese continued, “This is my mother and whatever prayers and advice you can give let’s get it done! She had to cancel five shows and she stressed out about it, but I just wanted to have more than enough money to where she don’t have to worry about the shows if she could just focus on resting and recovering because this world has already became a different place because of Kim Burrell and we want to keep it that way I love you mother.
"I hope I don’t make you mad from putting up this post but there’s so many of us out here that love you and let’s do whatever it takes to get you back on your feet at 100%."
"She’s on PayPal cash app Venmo Zelle just do whatever it takes to get some money into mom to make sure she’s OK but more importantly, all of you, kings and queens in the gospel with those powerful prophetic prayers to cover her energy, her spirit, her confidence and her health to get her to the other side, please I’m begging of you pray for Kim Burrell!!!!”
Types of Pneumonia
There are more than 30 different causes of pneumonia, and they’re grouped by the cause. The main types of pneumonia are:
Bacterial pneumonia. This type is caused by various bacteria. The most common is Streptococcus pneumoniae. It usually occurs when the body is weakened in some way, such as by illness, poor nutrition, old age, or impaired immunity, and the bacteria are able to work their way into the lungs. Bacterial pneumonia can affect all ages, but you are at greater risk if you abuse alcohol, smoke cigarettes, are debilitated, have recently had surgery, have a respiratory disease or viral infection, or have a weakened immune system.
Viral pneumonia. This type is caused by various viruses, including the flu (influenza), and is responsible for about one-third of all pneumonia cases. You may be more likely to get bacterial pneumonia if you have viral pneumonia.
Mycoplasma pneumonia. This type has somewhat different symptoms and physical signs and is referred to as atypical pneumonia. It is caused by the bacterium Mycoplasma pneumoniae. It generally causes a mild, widespread pneumonia that affects all age groups.
Symptoms of Pneumonia
The symptoms of bacterial pneumonia include:
- Bluish color to lips and fingernails
- Confused mental state or delirium, especially in older people
- Cough that produces green, yellow, or bloody mucus
- Fever
- Heavy sweating
- Loss of appetite
- Low energy and extreme tiredness
- Rapid breathing
- Rapid pulse
- Shaking chills
- Sharp or stabbing chest pain that’s worse with deep breathing or coughing
- Shortness of breath that gets worse with activity
You can tell that Burrell's health issue is personal with Tyrese because he lost his birth mother to a combination of pneumonia and COVID last year.
On Valentine's Day of 2022, Tyrese announced to the world that his mom passed away. “On behalf of my family and everyone who ever spent any time praying for my mother, this is the saddest moment of my life,” he began his caption on the social media site. “My sweet Valentine just passed away… May the Lord Jesus Christ and his angels open the doors of heavens and embrace her.”
Later in the post, Gibson stated that he and his family are “broken” before pleading for her to continue holding his hand from afar.
He wrote: “From here on I ask that you HOLD MY HAND MOTHER and never let my hand go… Like you held my hand as a child and a teen never let my hand go mother.”
Burrell responded that she’s doing well and asked her fans to continue praying for her recovery. “Good late evening. I’m so happy to report that all is well,” Burrell captioned a selfie. “As most of you know, there’s NOTHING that @tyrese wouldn’t say or do for me. Everybody please relax and continue to pray for my recovery. I love you all.”
