Epileptic seizures are a brief episode of signs or symptoms due to abnormal excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. The effects can vary from uncontrolled jerking movements or can be as subtle as a momentary loss of awareness. There are many different reasons why people can get seizures, including illness, brain damage, or abnormal brain development.
Tim Schmitt, a spokesman for the Omaha Airport Authority confirmed that the plane safely landed, but medical treatment was refused. Once the plane was refueled, Lil Wayne got back on the plane and continued his flight to California. Shortly after his departure, the rapper had another seizure. The aircraft was forced to land once again and take him back to the Creighton University Medical Center, where he received treatment and spent the night.
The press and many of Wayne’s fans are wondering why he initially refused medical treatment. For Wayne, the seizures may not have been cause for alarm. In 2013, he confirmed in an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106 FM that he has epilepsy, saying in the interview, “I’ve had a bunch of seizures - y’all just never hear about them.”

Although young adults are less likely to get epilepsy and seizures, it can develop in any person at any age. Statistics show that 1 in 26 people will have epilepsy in their lifetime and overall more men experience epilepsy than women.Seizures have different stages that consist of a beginning, middle and end. All parts of a seizure may be visible or easy to separate from each other. Everyone with seizures will not have every stage or symptom as someone else. However, symptoms during a seizure are usually similar each time, where an episodic seizure may be unpredictable.

Here is a brief description of the stages of epileptic seizures:
- Beginning: Some people experience feelings or sensations. This may warn a person that a seizure is coming.
- Middle: This is called the ictal phase. It is the time where the first symptoms at the end of the seizure, correlates with the electrical seizure activity of the brain. Symptoms may include: loss of awareness, hallucinations, or even out of body sensations.
- End: The end is the postictal phase, or in other words the recovery stage. This phase may take a couple of minutes or a few hours. The person may experience drowsiness, confusion or may be slow to respond.
Derek Sharron, the rapper’s publicist, told the Associated Press that he was in stable condition under the care of his private doctors and he is in good spirits. “He thanks his fans for their everlasting support, prayers and well wishes,” Sharron stated.
Although he is in “good spirits” the star returned home to his mansion in Los Angeles to get some rest. The plane departed Tuesday morning from Eppley Airfield’s private terminal. He plans on continuing his tour ASAP and will perform in Kansas City on Saturday.
