There are a number of--let's call them "interesting"--beauty hacks in the market right now. Some of them a little bit weirder than the next, but hey, if it works for you then go for it.
The strangest beauty treatments seem to come from celebrities. They seem to always be trying something new or at least something we haven't heard of. The latest strange beauty secret comes from our very own Toni Braxton. Yes, the beautiful multi-grammy award-winning singer has always been flawless on the red carpet, so when I heard that she had something to keep your skin flawless I was all ears.
Well, that is, until I heard that it was her vibrator that was doing it.
Say what?
That's right, the 52-year-old talented singer and mother even took to Twitter to tell fans about her clever skin-care secret. The Tweet reads: "My real beauty secret? Yea ok it’s a vibrator! But I only use this on my face...honest! There's 3 settings...but I wouldn’t advise putting it on 3. 🥴"
In the video, Braxton is seen using the Trojan Vibrations Power Wand Deep Massager vibrator--a favorite among women--to simply massage her face, with a focus on under her eyes where many people tend to get puffy. After introducing the tool, she says, "It is a vibrator, but I call it a 'face tingler' because it tingles all the muscles in my face and gets them activated and working." Then, she addresses the elephant in the room: "I haven't used it on anything other than my face, OK? Just FYI."
Now, it might sound strange, but what she's saying about B.O.Bs (Battery Operated Boyfriends) can actually work.
According to dermatologist Brandy Wojenchowski, massaging can help de-swell areas around your eyes and all over your face.
If you don't have a vibrator (wink, wink), then you can still get the same effect by doing the massage by yourself.
1. Gently rub the sides of your neck in a downward motion, from the area under your ears down to your shoulders. This releases any tense muscles and is also said to help release toxins that built up in your neckline.
2. With one finger (or your knuckle), press the front tips of your eyebrows. This helps to reduce swelling around the eyes.
3. Place pressure on the lower half of the area between your bottom lip and chin.
4. Lastly, press the soft patch of skin in front of your earlobes, and find an area that slightly hurts when you put pressure on it – massage this area for a few seconds. Then, massage the area that caves in right behind your earlobes.
For even better results, Braxton said she puts her vibrator in the freezer prior to using it under her eyes, an area that she said often reflects age.
