Ever since Will Smith turned 50 last year, he's looking at life a little differently. Some may even say he's looking at death differently.
“Will Smith’s Bucket List,” which debuted on the Facebook Watch video platform in February, followed the actor-comedian-rapper-daredevil as he scratched off items from his bucket list one at a time.
In the six-episode series, Smith travelled the globe, taking on various insane and unusual challenges. His “Bucket List” adventures include skydiving in Dubai with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith; racing a Formula 1 car in Abu Dhabi; swimming with sharks; taking part in a Bollywood movie; running a half marathon in Cuba — and performing stand-up comedy with Dave Chappelle.
Smith has a massive fanbase on Facebook, with 76.8 million followers for his official page. “For the last few months, I’ve been shootin’ a show called THE BUCKET LIST,” he wrote in a post promoting the show. “I turned 50 and I decided I was gonna do EVERYTHING I’ve ever wanted to do – Swim with Sharks, do Stand-Up and make Jada Pinkett Smith jump out of an Airplane (Which is what happens in the first episode).” He’s also promoting the show on his Instagram account, which has 28 million followers.
Will's social media presence has been bananas. From crazy historical videos to posts on inspiration and speaking Spanish, Will Smith seems to have it all on his platforms.
And with this #WillSmithsBucketList project, Smith is really trying to inspire people to step out of their comfort zone. On the @WillSmithsBucketList social media, Smith shares some motivational quotes like:
"If you're comfortable, you're not growing."
"Life is so much fun when you don't five a f@#%!"
"Fear is a poison and I'm going to cleanse mine"
The show is produced by Smith’s Westbrook Entertainment, which is also the company behind Facebook Watch original “Red Table Talk,”...
... a talk show featuring his wife, Jada.
Will Smith made his first big leap into digital media in the fall of 2018. In a special stunt produced in partnership with YouTube, on his 50th birthday (Sept. 25, 2018) he live-streamed his helicopter bungee-jump over the Grand Canyon on his YouTube channel. The stunt raised money for Global Citizen’s education campaigns. Currently, Smith’s YouTube channel has 4.7 million subscribers.
