Mike Epps’ Boxing Workout Is Nothing To Laugh At

mike epps workoutWho would’ve thought that under the slender suits were rock hard abs and buldging biceps? Mike Epps, the comedian best known for playing “Day-Day Jones” in Next Friday and the sequel-to-the-sequel, Friday After Next, takes his workouts seriously.

When Epps isn’t filming, he is touring the country and performing his comedy act, shooting comedy specials and starring in movies. Little do people know that Epps is fan of boxing. He follows the sport and keeps his body in shape with the help of former boxer and trainer, Rickey Funez.

Getting a great workout like Epps outside the ring doesn’t have to take a long time. Here’s a 15 minute total body celebrity boxing workout that you can complete to firm, tighten and build muscle.

    Minutes 1-3: Jump Rope

Begin slowly; increase your speed and intensity as your body begins to warm up. If you don’t have a jump rope, you can mime the movement by circling your hands and hopping foot to foot.

    1 Minute “Abs Knockout”: Plank

    1. Come to your hands and knees in “table top” position.
    2. Press into your palms and lift your knees so your weight is resting on your palms and toes (push up position).
Keep your body in a straight line, like a “plank” of wood.
    3. Hold for 1 minute. (If you can’t hold this position for the full minute, drop your knees to the floor for a brief break then lift again.) Keep your eyes on the floor and don’t sag in the middle.

*Ding-Ding* There’s the bell — in 4 minutes flat, you’re warmed up and ready to go. Now it’s time for the smack down!
