Cleansing can be a controversial topic. According to some research, detoxing, or cleansing doesn't really completely remove chemicals or toxins from your body—that's something our organs and immune systems already do. Our livers are specifically designed to remove bodily waste and our kidneys filter blood as well.
The process requires no strict diets, cleanses, detoxes, or starvation. Especially not starvation. There are some benefits to short-term cleanses that last a few weeks. They are known for cutting most harmful foods out of your daily diet for the period and can lead to long-term healthier eating. Here are a few that may help you achieve your summer wellness goals if incorporated with proper diet and exercise.
1. Cooler Cleanse
Cleanse diets are nothing new to Salma Hayek, who credits her slim and sexy shape to the juice cleanses she started doing 15 years ago. Salma worked with Juice Generation's Eric Helms to create the Cooler Cleanse, a three- or five-day detox diet consisting of pressed raw juices.
2. David Kirsch's 48-Hour Detox Diet
Actress Anne Hathaway turned to trainer David Kirsch's 48-Hour Detox Diet before most of her red carpet events. The 2-day diet involves drinking Kirsch's specialized LemonAid four times a day and allegedly boosts metabolism and energy to jumpstart weight loss. Incorporating this with a protein and fiber-rich diet has been found to help reset the system.
3. Nosh Juice Cleanse
According to Forbes.com, this popular UK-based detox is a three-day cleanse from Nosh Detox, founded by Geeta Sidhu-Robb in 2008. Sidhu-Robb created a juice cleanse as a means to add the plant protein Spirulina to her children's diet without them noticing the taste.
Sidhu-Robb, a wellness coach, offers a range of services including vitamin drips and nutritional coaching and almost ten years in, Nosh Detox is a leader in the ever-expanding juice cleanse business.
It’s been said that partakers are pleasantly surprised by how easy the cleanse is because the juices are pleasant-tasting, filling, plentiful, and hunger was kept at bay. The Nosh juices are a combination of blended fruit and vegetables with added superfoods (like spirulina) added to each bottle.
4. Glow Bio Juice Cleanse
Purists and devotees of Kimberly Snyder's Glow Bio Juice Cleanse include Drew Barrymore, Channing Tatum, and Owen Wilson. It’s been found that there’s no guesswork to the diet: with names like Glowing Green Smoothie and Debloater Shot, you’d know exactly what each drink does for you.
For example, there’s the Baby Skin Booster smoothie, which contains a greatest-hits list of natural radiance boosters and age defiers (bee pollen, blueberries, coconut water).
We hope this helps!
