(No) Wash & Go: DIY Dry Shampoo Recipe

DIY Dry Shampoo Recipe

Did you have a fun night out at a smelly, smokey club last night? Does your hair need a quick fix without having to hit the shower and do a full on shampoo day? Why not try out a dry shampoo, and even better, you can make it yourself!

It’s an easy way to get some of the filth out of your hair and back to smelling fresh. Although this spray-on shampoo recipe isn’t technically ‘dry’ since it relies on alcohol and water, it will refresh your roots and combat odor without having to shampoo/condition your entire head. It’s easy to make and you probably have most of the needed ingredients at home.

  • 1 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 4 tbsp of water
  • 1 tbsp of rubbing alcohol or organic ethanol
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Small spray bottle
  • A few drops of essential oil (lavender, peppermint, or vanilla are great options) for scent

Directions

  1. Mix it all together in the bowl.
  2. Then pour the mixture into your spray bottle.
  3. Shake the ingredients up to mix each time you use.
  4. Spray roots just enough to get them slightly damp.
  5. Brush or massage out into the hair.
  6. Blast your roots with your hairdryer (fluffing your hair with your fingers as you go will give it volume as well). You can also air dry if you prefer.
