Sodas are also acidic, causing the same effects as the above beverages.
The running theme is that each of these drinks causes a drying effect in the mouth. When saliva flow stops, the nasty smelling bacteria can hang around longer. The bottom line is this: Any food or drink might cause some bad breath if it hangs out in the mouth longer than it should. Good dental hygiene will be the key to good smelling breath:
So how do we get rid of all this “dragon breath?” It’s pretty simple actually:
– Brush twice a day.
– Floss at least once a day.
– Drink lots of water. It flushes your mouth of bits of food that bacteria love to feed on.
– Scrape your tongue. The tongue is a breeding ground for bacteria. Keep it clean.
– Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
– Chew sugar-free gum. It causes food and dead cells that attach themselves to your gums, teeth, and tongue to loosen up and also keeps your mouth moistened.
