Gabourey, known for her roles in the movie Precious, plus the TV series' American Horror Story and Empire has been on a weight loss journey and has been quietly shrinking down with every red carpet sighting. While the Empire Star hasn't revealed exactly how much she's lost, we know it started at 50 pounds and reports are claiming she's looking to lose at least 100 pounds.

The actress reflected on her size growing up. And how it made for a very tough time going through grammar and high school.

"Junior high school is a battlefield," she explained. "It sucked for me."

She continued: "High school sucked for me. I didn’t get good with myself until I was like, 25 years old. Tell her to hold strong. Tell her to hold on, but it’ll be worth it, honestly."

The star, who is part of a new fashion inclusive movement, went on to reveal how she's managed to cope with being trolled on social media over her weight.

Back in 2010, radio host Howard Stern famously called the actress "the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen," on his radio show.

Gabourey told Andy Cohen: "I got a lot of therapy in my life - I champion for therapy. Sit with yourself. You have to figure out what about yourself you love."

Weight isn't the only thing that Sidibe is conquering; she's pushing herself in business as well.

“I just directed my first film,” she said of her short movie, The Tale Of Four. “Six days ago I didn’t know that I could direct a film. Two months ago I didn’t know I wanted to. Forever ago I didn’t think I could do it. Now that I’ve done it, I know how little insecurities matter.”

After detailing that she used to think she couldn’t write a book, couldn't act or could never find happiness, Sidibe said she is proving herself wrong time and time again.

Recently Gabourey joined the likes of plus-sized model Ashley Graham as an ambassador for Lane Bryant’s #ThisBody Is Made To Shine campaign, which is putting pressure on fashion brands to target girls between sizes 14 and 28 more openly and effectively.
