It’s the 4th of July baybay! How will you spend it? With all the hostility in the White House, immigrant discrimination, an outpour of racist antics and neighborhood shootings, it’s okay to seek solace amongst your close family and friends. And what better way to celebrate the one day your entire family has off than with each other doing fun and safe activities!
Young or old, hood or boujee, everyone will show up to these 6 fun and safe alternatives to celebrate 4th of July weekend with you:
Family Backyard BBQ!
This classic will never get old. A grandmother’s kitchen is always a safe zone. Ask mom or grans if you could have a small get together at the house as a chance to see all your cousins, aunts and uncles. She won’t turn down bringing her family together. Invite a few friends too and now you have a party!
Boat Rides at The Marina
Every marina has boat ride specials for one of the biggest holidays of the summer. Google yourlocal marina or beach to see what they’ve got scheduled for the 4th and enjoy the family on the water for the holiday!
Potluck Party
Think it costs way too much to do anything on the 4th? Ask your friends and family to chip in! Have a potluck house party by asking everyone to bring one or two things per person.
Water Wars
Hands down the most fun you’ll have during one of the hottest holidays of the year will involve you getting drenched in water and you actually enjoying it. Have a water balloon fight outside or go to the water park for the weekend. Driest team wins!
Beach Day
Grab your coolers and beach towels and head to the community pool or beach for a fun day in the sun. Most beaches have volleyball nets, basketball courts, skate parks, cafes and more to enjoy a full day on the beach. Pick a spot and simply relax.
Picnic at The Park
Picnics are the best! Make sandwiches and dips to bring to your local park to enjoy a day under a shaded tree. Soak up some fresh air as you play card games and relay races to celebrate the holiday weekend.
The choices are endless!
