Gospel singer, actress and one half of the power couple David & Tamela Mann, Tamela is not slowing down! She's now on a mission toward a healthier lifestyle for herself and her family, and she’s doing it all as the new celebrity ambassador for Weight Watchers (now called WW).

Mann, who has found both success and failure in weight loss in the past, says that this new decision to become be an ambassador for WW wasn't so hard once she sat down to think about her reasons why.

“I decide that this is the help that I needed because I couldn’t do it my own,” she told Essence.com in an exclusive interview. It was her family that became the starting point for her decision and then she considered all of the other women who struggle with weight loss on a daily basis. The fact that she could be an inspiration and actually help them stood out to her.

“I prayed about it for a minute to make sure that I wanted to make this step,” Mann told ESSENCE in an interview. “Looking over my life and just thinking about everything, I was like, man, it would be great to be an encouragement to somebody else and not just to help myself get over this journey I’ve been struggling with my whole life, because I’ve lost weight and gained weight, and lost weight. I’m really excited about the lifestyle change and to be able to have people that you can connect with and who can coach you.”

Tamela also took to social media to share her newfound excitement for her journey and helping others with their weight loss as well:

"I’m so excited to start my @ww_us journey!" Tamela shared on Twitter. "I joined @ww_us b/c I’m really ready for this lifestyle change and I know WW, the new Weight Watchers, can help me lose the weight--Let the journey begin..."

The "Take Me To The King" singer has also dived into the fitness clothing industry as well by coming out with her own line of plus-sized workout gear. It's all available on her website, tamelamann.com

Weight Watchers as a whole is also ecstatic to have Tamela aboard the company that Oprah Winfrey also bought into. Here's what they had to say about the Mann-WW relationship.

“Tamela Mann is a wonderful addition to our WW family, as we build on our leadership in weight loss to become the world’s partner in wellness,” said Sherry Thompson, SVP of Community Engagement & Activation for WW. “WW aims to make wellness accessible to all by helping millions of people adopt healthy habits for real life. With Tamela’s help, we hope to inspire more African American women and their communities to live healthier by providing the tools, information and inspiration to get there.”

So what's next for Tamela besides losing weight, winning awards and living her best life? Everything!

Just this year alone, Tamela along with David received the NAACP Image Award for...
