“…One thing I’m gonna say, though, is women, we are just as equal as men when it comes to opportunity in the workplace,” she continued. “And I say firsthand: I have witnessed the impact that women have in leadership in the medical sciences, as well as just in the office environment.”
She also said that as Miss USA, she “would hope to promote that type of leadership responsibility globally.”
“The difference between a dreamer and a visionary is that a dreamer has his eyes closed and a visionary has his eyes open. People travel from all over the globe to sightsee our Nation’s Capital and I’m lucky enough to have these sights in my backyard. I’ve noticed It’s easy to not take advantage of the activities your city has to offer. So, I challenge everyone to not wait on attending that play at your local theater, going to the art gallery, museum, national park, restaurant, etc. Life is too precious and short to not take advantage today!”
McCullough, one of five contestants who immigrated to the U.S. as youngsters and are now citizens, took the crown from Army officer Deshauna Barber, also from the District of Columbia.
