Thanks to socio-political unrest, high life expectations imposed on us by social media and countless other stressors, we’ve seen a shift within the Black community, where millennials are starting to put more focus on their well-being. Wellness influencers have an incredible impact on us by encouraging us to think twice more deeply about our daily choices through diet, exercise, environments and mental health.
Looking at the numbers, the industry’s meteoric rise over the last few years consists of beauty, fitness, mind, body, nutrition, tourism, alternative medicine and spas – and as an industry has grown 10.6% between 2013-2015, from a $3.36 trillion to $3.72 trillion markets.
For Millennials, there’s more to life than work. Our relationship with work is not purely about monetary advancement, stability or status. Instead, it’s about the impact and personal growth. We want to expand our minds, experience, grow and have a positive impact on the world.

Chelsea Williams is acertified health professional that runs a wellness blog, where she talks about her plant-based diet, homeopathic wellness remedies, and green beauty products.
Lauren Ash has been featured in countless publications and was named the “zen mother” by Refinery29. She’s the founder of yoga and wellness platform, Black Girls in OM, a space for women of color to focus on their health within mind, body, and soul.
Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts uses herblog and fun Instagram page to help black teens utilize the practice of yoga for cultural literacy and holistic wellness.
Ciara Ross
Ciara Ross created Waters of Nu to provide a space for her audience to create holistic health through emotional, physical and spiritual healing.
Milanna Snow is an actress and the founder of SERENE Social, an international wellness company known for its rooftop yoga. Also a fashion savant, she won Project Runway as a working model alongside the featured competing designer and has worked withclients like YSL, Cover Girl, L'Oreal and Gant as well as working behind the scenes in publishing, public relations and creative direction for VIBE, Uptown Magazine, Vespa and Porsche.
Today Millana has integrated these worlds by leading workshops, meditations and talks at NYU, Syracuse, Summit LA17, Soho House, Lululemon, and Alexander Wang among many others.
Angelique Miles has, without a doubt, found and guzzles daily from the Fountain of Youth. At 50+, the fitness and lifestyle guru quite literally glows from the inside out with little to no help from social media sorcery (filters and makeup).
After her 40th birthday, she noticed she was gaining weight and immediately decided to take her health into her own hands. Due to her love of running to Crossfit, and slow training workouts, she now has the physique that is the envy of anyone, regardless of age.
