…I am walking, running, dancing doing any and everything I can that gets my body moving and, more often than not, my two little shugas are right there with me. Moving up to 2017, if I’m doing anything GirlTrek related they immediately go to put on their superhero blue shirts. My oldest daughter, Alyna, runs 5ks with me. The little one, Mikayla, walk/runs the same 5ks with me.
Today, I am the example for my daughters and they are included in the journey. They are practicing self-care WITH me. They are active WITH me. They are showing love for themselves and others WITH me. Currently I am in a weight loss challenge with my husband. We are on a vacation countdown and decided to really push at being active and eating clean. Each of us created a team and recruited our friends and families to be on our teams. My daughters love their dad, but they are Team Mom because they want to see me at my best fit self. They have been my trainers and my food and water watchdogs!
Eating right is hard.
Walking every day is hard.
Staying fit is hard.
I don’t want that for my daughters.
I want walking, eating right, drinking water and being active to be a part of their lifestyle and now it is. They know, at 13 and 7, that living their best fit lives is the only way to live because they see the example that I set for them and I include them in my journey. Walking with me and being a part of GirlTrek is the first step to my family’s generational well-being.
I walk for my daughters, my granddaughters and my great granddaughters.
I walk for the health of my lineage.
