We are in love with the cocoa when it comes to Kelly Rowland, who always stays camera ready. Now, the award-winning singer is planning to spread the love with a forthcoming cosmetics line made especially for women of color.
Rowland recently shared with Essence that the makeup line is a partnership with her makeup artist Sheika Daley. “We’re starting off with lashes and then we’re going to have it grow for all women. But definitely making sure we have our chocolate girls covered. Gotta get the chocolate girls in there! We have to have that, you know.”
Indeed, we do.
With recent controversy over darker-skinned Black women and the features of Black women, in general, there is even greater need for more positive celebration and representation.
Iconic model Iman, who began her Iman Cosmetics line in 1994, is cited as an inspiration for Rowland’s makeup line aspiration. “I think Iman has done a beautiful makeup line and I want to do it too!,” she told Essence.
In addition to working with Kelly Rowland, Sheika Daley’s skills have also helped stars like Brandy and Serena Williams put their best faces forward.
The launch date for the line is unknown. In the meantime, getting glowing skin like Rowland’s naturally is simple following two of her faithful beauty tips she shared with BlackDoctor.org: drinks lots of water and stay away from dairy products!
